Crossover Group’s Dining in the Dark
The year 2023 is coming to a close and with Christmas around the corner, we are reminded that tis the season of giving.
This year, we are giving back to the community by experiencing Singapore Association Of The Visually Handicapped (SAVH) Dining In The Dark. This gives us the opportunity to try something new and provide them with funds to help the visually disabled in Singapore.
Even if it was for one evening, we got to experience what it was like to dine without one of our five senses, sight. After this excursion, we certainly felt grateful to have the gift of sight. What is a routine daily meal, can be a great challenge without being able to see. From looking for our seat and finding our utensils. We even had to be extra careful to receive our drinks and dishes.
This our CEO’s Reflection on Dining in the Dark 🌟
Dining in the dark provides an opportunity to disengage the sense of sight and fully experience food without preconceived ideas and judgements.
Although we found this to be the case while dining in the dark, we had never fully appreciated how deceptive our sense of sight can be—how it inhibits our ability to fully experience our other senses.
Dining in the dark as a mindful eating experience. Dining in the dark with no awareness of what we were eating until we could feel and taste the food, gave me an appreciation of how our enjoyment of food is normally clouded by preconceived perceptions.
One must learn to be at peace and be appreciative with what they have. We are resilient creatures and we can rise above even if one of our senses fail. 🌟
We would like to thank SAVH for giving us a wonderful dinner experience and also the opportunity to help others. Keep doing the good work!
Let’s reach out and give our fellow man a little hand. Make it Happen!
